Clinical Supervision

Yay! You’re on your way to being fully licensed!
You’ve done it. You’ve written papers, passed tests, met with your very first clients, and no doubt participated in one too many role-plays. Now, all that’s left is sitting for your licensing exam and meeting your required clinical and supervision hours.
In South Carolina, new clinicians must accrue 1500 clinical hours over a minimum two-year process. This is how it breaks down:
120 hours of clinical “supervision” with an approved supervisor
1,350 hours consisting of direct counseling experience with clients
Navigating the road to licensure can be confusing.
The forms, the rules, and the changing rules of the licensing board. Then, client interactions, notes, and all of the other things that go into being a therapist. It’s a lot to keep up with.
That’s where I come in. As your supervisor, I’m here to support and guide you through this time between graduation and full licensure.
Hi! I’m Sheila Tucker, LMFT & Supervision Candidate.
My goal for your supervision is to strengthen your clinical skills. By helping you understand:
factors that impact your client (ex. their readiness for therapy)
factors that impact you (ex. your framework for working with clients)
other factors that impact your client (ex. someone else is paying for therapy or says they should go to therapy)
the research regarding treatment
**I’ll also help you tap into your clinical intuition and support your professional growth, whether that means joining a group practice or founding your very own private practice.
